Speakers Bureau
The Western Pacific Regional Fishery Management Council is pleased to offer a valuable resource to educators and community groups—a list of expert speakers ready to share their knowledge on the ecological and cultural importance of Pacific nearshore and offshore ecosystems. Our diverse group of speakers includes commercial and recreational fishermen, fisheries scientists and managers, indigenous practitioners, and others involved in state/territorial and federal fisheries.
Originally launched in Hawaii, the Speakers Bureau is expanding to encompass American Samoa, Guam, and the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands. Many of our expert presenters are available for virtual sessions, allowing them to connect with and engage audiences beyond their home islands, extending the reach of this valuable resource across the Pacific.
The Council utilizes a unique bottom-up decision-making process that incorporates input from fishermen and other stakeholders. We encourage everyone to participate—learn from scientists, managers, and community experts, and share your own knowledge. Together, we can ensure the sustainability of our local fisheries for today and future generations.
