On February 11, 2014, the Western Pacific Fishery Management Council submitted new scientific information to the National Marine Fisheries Service (NMFS) regarding the 66 coral species proposed for listing under the Endangered Species Act (ESA). Previously unpublished distribution and abundance data were generated by Dr. John “Charlie” Veron, one of the world’s most renowned coral experts.
